After the Venice Architecture Biennale has announced the details of participants for the 18th International Architecture Exhibition, the 2023 edition of the international exhibition will be divided into six parts, wich will welcome 89 Participants, over half of whom are from Africa or the African Diaspora.
Focusing on the African continent, the curator Lesley Lokko seeks a gender balance, with a 50/50, with an average age of all Participants is 43, while 37 of them will be represented in the Curator’s Special Projects, where the youngest is 24.
The Venice Architecture Biennale consists of three main sections: National Pavilions, the main international exhibition with participants selected by the curator, and the Collateral Events.
This year, the exhibition will welcome 63 National Participations, 27 of which are at the Giardini, 22 at the Arsenale and 14 in the city centre of Venice.
This year’s exhibition will explore the theme The Laboratory of the Future starting from Saturday 20 May to Sunday 26 November, 2023 at the Arsenale and Giardini venues, Italy.

At the 18th International Architecture Exhibition, titled The Laboratory of the Future, the curator Lesley Lokko has announced 9 Collateral Events organized by La Biennale di Venezia.
Admitted by the curator and promoted by non–profit national and international bodies and institutions, take place in several locations, this year’s 9 Collateral Events offer a wide range of contributions and participations that enrich the diversity of voices that characterizes the exhibition of Venice.
